Community classes

Dance Research Studio hosts a number of evening classes led by locally based practitioners. It is an ideal space for dance and holistic practices, including Yoga, Tribal Belly Dance, Kathak, Meditation, Alexander Technique and Tai Chi. DRS is always looking to extend its programme of community classes and welcome enquiries from new teachers.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Rachel Alice (All Levels Welcome)

Tuesday evenings: 7:30pm-8:30pm
Rachel teaches a dynamic vinyasa flow practice, encouraging inquisitive movement, with alignment-based cues and thoughtful sequencing to help you tune into your breath and your body.

This inclusive class offers an accessible yoga practice for everybody, accompanied by a great playlist in the surroundings of this beautiful studio.

Vinyasa Yoga/The Brilliant Basics With Nefeli Skarmea (All Levels Welcome)

Wednesday evenings: 8:00pm-9:15pm
*CLASS CHANGE: No class on Wed 26th July – class will take place on Thu 27th July instead
Based on in-depth Asana analysis, Nefeli’s practice allows time for
understanding of fundamental posture components, whilst offering alignment guidance to intermediate practitioners. Whether you aim to recuperate your energy, release tension, or give a treat to your body, this Vinyasa practice has something for you. Nefeli has taught yoga since 2011 with emphasis towards organic connections between stasis and flow, core and extremities.

Vinyasa Flow with Ana Dias

Saturday mornings: 11:00am-12:00pm
*Begins on 23rd September 2017

Ana believes yoga has something to offer everyone: it helps you heal, de-stress, energize. She teaches a dynamic and playful flow focused on building full body awareness, strength and developing a more supple body. There will be a deep connection with the breath: it will be a point of focus, a metronome for the practice, a stimulus to move. We will move around the mat 360 degrees, play with arm balances/inversions with variations for all levels. Most importantly you will be encouraged to try new things and deepen your practice in a safe environment. Ana is a professional dancer trained in Ashtanga, Rocket, Mandala and Yin Yoga (400hrs YT)

Interested in running a short course or workshop?

Throughout the year DRS hosts a variety of special short courses and workshops delivered by guest teachers in various techniques and approaches. These activities compliment the core professional development activities at DRS which includes TIP, SDIPT and ARP programmes. DRS welcomes approaches from experienced practitioner/tutors who are interested in running short courses or workshops in: somatic practice, holistic techniques and performance/theatre training.
