Dance Research Studio hosts a number of evening classes led by locally based practitioners. It is an ideal space for dance and holistic practices, including Yoga, Tribal Belly Dance, Kathak, Meditation, Alexander Technique and Tai Chi. DRS is always looking to extend its programme of community classes and welcome enquiries from new teachers.

Melanie Christou Pilates

Monday mornings with Melanie: 10:00am -10:55am

Struggling with back pain, no core strength and sat a desk all day? Ever wondered how you could exercise safely and feel healthy and motivated again? If this sounds like you then these classes are great for you. If you are an absolute beginner, we will guide you through the basics and help you move and feel better. We have structured classes to allow you to progress as you strengthen up and improve.

Each class takes only a maximum of 12 people and it’s a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Eleni

Monday evenings: 6:10pm-7:10pm

Having found home in yoga – a place where the breath is deep and full, and the mind quietens –  Eleni explores and celebrates Vinyasa Flow and its unique ability to connect the breath with movement, making it a meditation in motion that encourages awareness, a sense of curiosity, and self-discovery.  Her practice is about meeting anything she discovers with non-judgment and non-attachment, honouring the body and accepting its limitations. A 200-hr Yoga Alliance certified teacher, Eleni uses creative sequences to make every class different, while guiding with care and offering modifications to suit all levels. She is passionate about sharing all that she knows and about witnessing yoga’s healing capacity.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Charli

*No class November 5th and 12th, 2018

Monday evenings: 7:30pm-8:30pm

Charli’s soulful yoga classes progressively build a moving meditation, infused with creative play. Through embodied movement we can connect deeper to our own power and to the world around us. Expect to flow (and sweat!) through beautifully sequenced strong asana (movement) with nourishing hands-on assists, and variations appropriate for the individual journey of each student. Pranayama, mantra, mudra and meditation may be woven through the practice, always culminating in deep relaxation. Each class is connected to yoga philosophy, to empower us to take yoga off the mat through compassionate action. All levels welcome.

Evening Yin with Hannah

Friday Evenings: 7:30 pm- 8:30 pm

A COSY NIGHT YIN
Join for an evening of candle lit yin yoga and yoga nidra that will leave you floating into the weekend feeling calm, nourished, and completely relaxed. The class will be suitable for all ages and levels and includes floor based poses with props, yoga nidra and a sound bath of crystal singing bowls.
Expect to emerge from what feels like the most relaxing nap of your life.

Interested in running a short course or workshop?

Throughout the year DRS hosts a variety of special short courses and workshops delivered by guest teachers in various techniques and approaches. These activities compliment the core professional development activities at DRS which includes TIP, SDIPT and ARP programmes. DRS welcomes approaches from experienced practitioner/tutors who are interested in running short courses or workshops in: somatic practice, holistic techniques and performance/theatre training.
